Origin: Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu | Technique: Kanchipuram Handloom Weaving | Material: Pure Mulberry Silk with Zari
Kanchipuram, the silk city of South India, has been weaving sarees for over 400 years. Kanchipuram sarees are distinguished by their heavy pure silk body, contrasting silk border interlocked with the body using a unique interlocking weft technique, and a rich zari pallu. The silk threads are woven so tightly that the fabric stands on its own.
Each saree is a GI (Geographical Indication) certified product of Kanchipuram.
